Arcadia Daze Returns: Shipwreck Theme, Fireworks, Family Fun

Arcadia Daze Returns with a Focus on Lake Michigan's Maritime History

Arcadia Daze, a beloved annual festival, is set to return for its 44th year. This year’s theme, “Legends beneath the Waves,” highlights three shipwrecks that occurred off the shores of Arcadia in Lake Michigan. The event promises a mix of history, entertainment, and community spirit, drawing visitors from near and far.

The festival kicks off with a special presentation titled “The Arcadia Shipwreck Trilogy.” This event will take place on Tuesday, July 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Arcadia Community Center. The presentation will be led by Jed Jaworski, a renowned Benzie County maritime historian and former curator at the Michigan Maritime Museum. It offers a unique opportunity to learn about the dramatic stories behind the shipwrecks that shaped the region.

While the main events of Arcadia Daze span from July 25 to 27, the festival begins earlier this year with a new addition on Wednesday. A team trivia night will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the same location. This family-friendly event is open to all ages, with a suggested donation of $10 per player and a team limit of eight players. It serves as a fundraiser for the Arcadia Lions Club.

A Weekend of Fun and Family Activities

Arcadia Daze is more than just a celebration of history—it’s an ultimate small-town summer festival. The weekend features live music, a grand parade, artisan markets, a car show, kids’ games, and a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Michigan. The event also includes a pancake breakfast, fishing activities for children, and various live performances throughout the weekend.

Not to be missed are the breathtaking sunsets and scenic beach views that make Arcadia a perfect summer destination. Whether you're a local, a lake lover, or simply looking for a fun getaway, Arcadia Daze offers a blend of family fun, hometown pride, and the charm of Pure Michigan.
