Humboldt County is buzzing with a variety of events this week, offering something for everyone. From music and art to community gatherings and outdoor activities, there’s no shortage of opportunities to enjoy the local culture and connect with others.
Wine & Jazz Night at the Museum
One of the highlights of the week is the “Wine & Jazz” event featuring Anna & The Situation. This musical performance will take place today, July 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, located at 636 F St., Eureka. Anna Hamilton will showcase her talent with solid songwriting, sparkling guitar work, and a passionate vocal performance, supported by local musicians Mat Hanf on drums and Dave Wilson Jr. on bass. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors, military veterans, and students with ID, while children under 17, families with an EBT card, and museum members can attend for free.
Book Sale at the Eureka Library
The Friends of the Redwood Libraries are hosting their biggest sale of the year this Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, at the Eureka Library, 1313 Third St. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. On Friday, the sale is exclusively for members, though memberships can be obtained at the door. Saturday's sale is open to the public. Everything is priced at just $2 per bag, including fiction in various genres, both hardback and paperback, as well as non-fiction books, cookbooks, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and a wide selection of children’s books. Credit cards are accepted, and small bills are appreciated for cash payments. All proceeds will support the Humboldt County Library system.
Grange Breakfast
For those looking for a hearty meal, the Humboldt Grange No. 501 will serve breakfast on Saturday, July 26, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the grange hall, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka. The cost is $10 for a large breakfast that includes two scrambled eggs, two link sausages or one patty sausage, two pancakes or two biscuits and gravy. A smaller breakfast is available for $7, which includes one scrambled egg, one link sausage or sausage patty, one pancake or one biscuit and gravy. All breakfasts come with coffee or tea.
Trail Workday
Nature enthusiasts are invited to join the Redwood Parks Conservancy for a trail brushing event on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Lower Redwood Creek Trail, located just north of Orick. Volunteers should meet at the Redwood Creek Trailhead parking lot off Little Bald Hills Road. Participants will help clear vegetation along a 1.5-mile stretch, remove litter, and ensure the trail remains safe and enjoyable for all users. All necessary tools, safety instructions, and light refreshments will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy boots and long pants and to be prepared for moderate physical activity. Blackberry Festival
The Westhaven Ladies Club is celebrating its 65th annual Wild Blackberry Festival on Sunday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westhaven Fire Hall. The event features homemade pies, jams, and jellies, live music, a barbecue, artisan vendors, beer, and wine. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Westhaven Volunteer Fire Department. To get there, take the Sixth Avenue exit to Westhaven.
