Morgan Wallen Assures Fans 'Safe' with 'Side Chicks' After Coldplay Incident

Morgan Wallen Makes Light of Coldplay Concert Scandal at His Own Show
At a recent concert in Glendale, Arizona, country star Morgan Wallen took a humorous jab at the recent Coldplay concert scandal. During his performance on Friday night, Wallen addressed the crowd with a casual tone, making a comment that seemed to reference the incident involving a CEO and an HR executive caught in a compromising situation during a Coldplay show.
Wallen, 32, said, “Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you’re safe here.” The remark was met with laughter from the audience. A video of the moment quickly went viral online, showing Wallen adding, “I don’t condone cheating … anymore.”
The incident in question occurred just days before when Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, was seen embracing Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, during a “kiss cam” segment at a Coldplay concert in Boston. The moment was captured on camera and caused quite a stir. Byron had his arms wrapped around Cabot from behind, and as they were shown on the Jumbotron, both tried to quickly disengage. Cabot covered her face with her hands, while Byron crouched down, attempting to avoid the camera.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin quipped, “Oh, what...either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” as the pair fled the scene. The incident led to significant backlash, prompting Byron to resign from his position. A company official reportedly told Axios that Cabot has also been put on leave pending an investigation.
In a statement released on Saturday, Astronomer expressed its commitment to its core values and culture. It stated, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.” The statement further mentioned that Byron had resigned, and the Board of Directors had accepted his resignation. They also announced that Pete DeJoy, Cofounder and Chief Product Officer, would serve as interim CEO while the board searches for a new chief executive.
Wallen, however, isn’t without his own share of controversies. Most recently, he left the stage of Saturday Night Live prematurely after performing as a musical guest during an April episode. Instead of staying to congratulate the cast members, Wallen walked off the stage as the credits began to roll.
After the episode aired, Wallen posted a photo on his Instagram Story showing a private jet on a runway, captioned: “Get me to God’s country.” It later came to light that Wallen had refused to participate in a sketch about New York City and had also started selling merchandise with the slogan “Get me to God’s country.”
Colin Jost humorously referenced Wallen’s quick exit during Weekend Update. In May, Wallen downplayed the incident when asked if SNL had made him mad. He responded, “No. I was ready to go home. I’d been there all week.”
Morgan Wallen continues to navigate both his music career and public image, often finding himself at the center of various discussions and controversies. His comments at the Glendale concert highlighted his ability to turn attention away from serious issues with humor, even as he faces scrutiny over his own actions.
