Ho argues that simultaneous translation tools could have a similar impact on travel as budget airlines did in the 1990s and 2000s. Chesky compared the current state of AI to the mid- to late-1990s internet, when the technology was still emerging but had the potential to revolutionize industries. He believes that while AI will eventually have a profound impact on travel, it hasn’t yet fundamentally changed large platforms like Airbnb.
