Overview of Vault Symbols in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 offers players a vast open world filled with opportunities for exploration, combat, and collecting. Among the many collectibles found throughout the game are Vault Symbols, which provide valuable rewards such as SDU Tokens. These tokens can be used to increase ammo capacity and inventory size, making it essential for players to gather as many symbols as possible. This guide covers all the Vault Symbols located in various regions of the game, including those that may be challenging to locate without additional guidance.

Coastal Bonescape Vault Symbols

The Coastal Bonescape is one of the starting areas in Borderlands 4 and contains three hidden Vault Symbols. Two of these are close together, while the third is located further away.

Vault Symbol 1
This symbol is located in Plungeford, the area where the "Meat is Murder" quest concludes. It can be found inside a tall house. Players should enter through cracks or holes in the walls and look for the symbol on the upper floor.

Vault Symbol 2
The second symbol is just outside of Plungeford, near the entrance to the Howl. A rocky outcrop by the exit serves as a landmark. Checking the map will help identify the exact location.

Vault Symbol 3
The third symbol is situated to the east, on the roof of a house near the Waterstop POI. Players must fight off some Kratches and then climb the house to reach the symbol, which faces the cliff.

The Howl Vault Symbol

There is only one Vault Symbol in the Howl region. It is located directly beneath the Outbounders' base in the Launchpad. To access it, players should enter the hidden base from the bridge entrance. Look for a ledge on the right just before the stairs and door leading deeper into the base. Follow the path and tag the symbol on the wall.

Hungering Plain Vault Symbols

The Hungering Plain has two Vault Symbols, both of which are relatively easy to find. One of them is located inside a heavily populated Order base.

Vault Symbol 1
This symbol is found inside a ruined house near the wall dividing the Fadefields and the Timekeeper's Dominion City. Head to the map marker and double jump to the second floor to locate it.

Vault Symbol 2
The second symbol is inside Horace’s Oversight, an Order base. Players will need to fight through the compound until they reach a doorway with two triangular lights above it. Enter the room, pull the vent cover on the opposite wall, and go through it to find the Vault Symbol.

Idolator's Noose Vault Symbols

Technically, there are three Vault Symbols in Idolator's Noose, even though the map may only show two. One of the symbols is located inside Fortress Indomita, a dungeon featuring a boss fight against Indomitus Sol.

Vault Symbol 1
This symbol is found far west of Fortress Indomita. Consult the map and look for another tall house. Enter and make your way to the attic to find the symbol.

Vault Symbol 2
The second symbol is also in the attic of a tall house, this time in a village south of the Deep Seven Silo. The residents here are normal, so no fighting is required. Climb up the roof and enter through a large window to reach the symbol.

Vault Symbol 3
If players have already defeated Indomitus Sol, they can fast travel to the interior of Fortress Indomita. Head to the hangar area and look for a vent cover near a checkpoint. Pull the cover off, hop through the vent, and tag the symbol inside the control room.

Dissected Plateau Vault Symbols

There are two Vault Symbols in the Dissected Plateau, one of which is located inside an Order base.

Vault Symbol 1
This symbol is located right above Zadra’s Backup Plan. Teleport there, take the cargo elevator to the surface, and head to the top of the hill with ship wreckage. The symbol is etched onto a broken hull near a tree and is also close to the Fadefields Vault.

Vault Symbol 2
The second symbol is in the Order base where players fight the Oppressor boss. Enter through one of the wide side entrances and navigate to the courtyard/processing area. Cover yourself in Wildhorn guts to progress, follow the tracks to a roofed checkpoint, and use a level to trigger the guts to fall on you. Once scanned, jump off before hitting the crusher and climb the metal grate wall. Follow the path to the end of the vent, drop down, and look for the Vault Symbol behind a red mirror.
