A Week of Excitement and Adventure in Australia

Nik and Kev’s journey through Australia continued as they made their way to the vibrant chaos of Caxton Street for the Lions’ opening Test. The three-match series against the Wallabies kicked off with a mix of intense rugby action and plenty of fun along the way. From exploring wildlife at Taronga Zoo to catching a glimpse of a boxing match featuring a sports legend, there was no shortage of memorable moments.

Monday: Wrexham FC and a Day at the Zoo

Wrexham FC, the football club owned by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, arrived in Sydney as part of their Tour Down Under. They stayed at the same hotel where the Lions were based, and Nik and Kev were invited on a special trip to Taronga Zoo. After admiring the adorable koalas, they had a chance to chat with Eoghan O’Connell, a center-back for Wrexham and a relative of Irish rugby icon Paul O’Connell. It was an exciting day filled with both wildlife and sports connections.

Tuesday: Star Power and a Matchday

As they walked around Circular Quay, the guys spotted a large number of security guards preparing for a photoshoot at the Sydney Opera House. The spotlight was on Pedro Pascal, who was in town to promote his latest film, Fantastic Four. Feeling inspired, they headed to watch Wrexham take on Sydney in a match hosted by Destination NSW. The atmosphere was electric, and it was clear that the team was making a big impression in the city.

Wednesday: A Night of Boxing and Controversy

The next day brought a high-profile event as Sonny Bill Williams faced off against Paul Gallen in a highly anticipated pay-per-view boxing match. Australian rugby legends like Michael Hooper and Quade Cooper were in attendance, adding to the excitement. Although Gallen won the controversial decision, the crowd was visibly upset. Despite the tension, Williams’ team welcomed Nik and Kev into his dressing room after the fight. They even caught up with Quade Cooper, who shared his interest in returning to the boxing ring.

Thursday: A Flight North to Brisbane

After the intensity of the previous days, the team made their way north to Brisbane via a Qatar Airways partner flight. The weather was perfect, and upon arrival, they checked into the brand-new InterContinental Brisbane by IHG. The location was ideal, as it was also where Andy Farrell held his team announcement press conference. This meant a short commute for the guys, who were ready for the next leg of their adventure.

Friday: Captains’ Runs and a Scenic Route

The day began with the captains’ runs in Brisbane, as both teams prepared for the upcoming match at Suncorp Stadium. Instead of taking the usual route, Nik and Kev decided to travel to the media sessions by scooter, enjoying the scenic views along the riverbank. It was a relaxed way to start the day before the big game.

Saturday: A Party Atmosphere in Caxton Street

Caxton Street came alive on Saturday as fans from all over gathered for the big match. The live music and timber-frame buildings created a festive vibe reminiscent of Frenchman Street in New Orleans. The Lions delivered a strong performance, securing a convincing victory over the Wallabies. The night ended with a late celebration, marking another unforgettable day in their Australian journey.

Roar & Uncut continues to bring viewers behind the scenes of this exciting tour, supported by Dr Squatch to ensure Nik and Kev are always fresh and ready for whatever comes next. For more information on visiting Sydney and other parts of New South Wales, check out the official tourism website.
