A Life Changed by a Lucky Ticket

An Australian man has shared how he decided to leave his job after discovering he had won a significant lottery prize. The Tasmanian resident was one of the seven individuals who secured a division one win in the TattsLotto draw held on Saturday. Each of these winners received $913,127, which is a life-changing amount for many.

The newly retired winner was still excited when he received a call from an official at The Lott. He expressed his happiness and mentioned that he had already resigned from his job. “I’m excellent. I've already resigned from work,” he said. He added that they had been considering retirement but this win accelerated their plans.

Next on his agenda is a road trip that he and his wife have been planning for some time. They even plan to upgrade their caravan. The couple also intends to meet with a financial planner to ensure they can enjoy their newfound wealth and live comfortably.

When he first realized they had won, he looked at his wife across the table and said, “I'm not going to work anymore.” At first, she thought he was joking, but the reality of the situation soon set in. “It's incredible. It just means we don't have to worry anymore.”

An Unclaimed Prize

Meanwhile, there is still a chance for another lucky Australian to claim a $670,000 prize from the Saturday Gold Lotto draw. One person, either a local or a visitor, is believed to be holding the winning ticket, but they are unaware of their fortune.

The mystery player was one of the six division one winners in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3867, which took place on August 11, 2018. They won a total of $671,513. This unclaimed ticket is the oldest unclaimed lottery prize in Australia and must be claimed by August 11, 2025. In Queensland, winners have up to seven years from the draw date to claim their prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at Golden Lucky News, located at 1-29 Millaroo Dr, Helensvale. The owner of the store, Melanie Zhi, hopes that the mystery winner will check their ticket and come forward before the deadline.

“It's hard to believe the division one winner still hasn’t come forward after all these years. We're really hoping they'll check their ticket and finally claim their prize,” she said. She noted that while most of their customers are locals, they also serve visitors from various places, especially from New South Wales. “Honestly, the winner could be anyone.”

Zhi took over the outlet late last year and would love to see the mystery winner come forward. “What a moment that would be,” she said.

A Final Reminder

With less than a month left to claim the prize, a spokesperson from The Lott, Anna Hobdell, urged players in the area to check their tickets. She emphasized the importance of registering tickets with The Lott Members Club or an online account. If the winner had registered their ticket, they would have already claimed their prize seven years ago.

For those who have lost or damaged their tickets, a Lost or Damaged Ticket Search Form needs to be completed. If someone discovers they have the winning ticket, they should contact The Lott immediately at 131 868 to start the claiming process.

The winning numbers in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3867 on August 11, 2018, were 1, 23, 8, 15, 44, 20, with supplementary numbers 11 and 18. The odds of winning the division one prize are just 1 in 62.8 million.
