A Transformation of a Legendary Nightspot

For decades, a certain Mayfair venue was synonymous with indulgence and excess. It was a hotspot where celebrities partied until the early hours, rock stars swung from chandeliers, and even legends like George Best once had a confrontation with Michael Caine. The place was known for its wild energy and exclusive atmosphere, attracting some of the biggest names in entertainment and society.

But times have changed dramatically. What was once a hub of hedonism is now set to become a serene wellness sanctuary called Tramp Health. This new 16,000 sq ft space will open next spring on Grosvenor Square, offering a complete transformation from its former identity.

The current owner of the venue, Luca Maggiora, a veteran in the nightclub scene, has shared his vision for this new chapter. Known for previous ventures like Luxx, also located in Mayfair, Maggiora recently announced the plans through an Instagram post. He described it as a significant moment for both himself and the Tramp brand. “It marks the beginning of something incredible: a wellbeing and fitness club for conscious living opening in spring 2026 in Mayfair’s most prestigious location,” he said.

Maggiora expressed gratitude to Qatari Diar for supporting his vision and providing one of the best spaces available in London. While details about the facilities or membership fees are still under wraps, the new wellness center is expected to be connected to the five-star Chancery Rosewood Hotel, housed in the former US embassy building at 30 Grosvenor Square.

A Brief History of Tramp

Tramp first opened its doors in 1969, founded by Johnny Gold. It quickly became one of London's most famous celebrity hangouts, drawing in icons like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Mick Jagger, Princess Margaret, Joan Collins, Jack Nicholson, and later Prince William, David Beckham, and Rihanna. The venue gained notoriety for hosting three James Bonds in one night—Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and George Lazenby—all dropping by for dinner at the same time.

In 2023, Maggiora acquired the venue and invested £12 million in a lavish renovation before reopening it in September of last year. Now, with the launch of Tramp Health, he is taking the legacy of the venue in a completely new direction.

Wellness in London: A Growing Trend

Tramp Health isn't Maggiora's first foray into the wellness industry. In 2021, he co-founded House of Wisdom near Great Portland Street in central London. This venture reflects a growing trend in the city, where wellness and self-care are becoming increasingly important to high-profile individuals and the general public alike.

Becky Fatemi, executive partner at Sotheby’s International Real Estate, highlighted the renewed interest in Mayfair. “There is a new found love for Mayfair with The Chancery’s grand opening,” she said. “The proposed £1 million refurbishment of the square itself by Grosvenor is only set to further elevate it.”

Fatemi noted that demand for properties around Grosvenor Square has surged, with properties over £10 million seeing a 28% increase compared to the same period last year. This shift in demand is partly due to the area’s regeneration and the influx of high-end developments.

A New Era for Mayfair

Several major projects are contributing to Mayfair’s status as a global luxury hub. Blackstone’s new European headquarters is set to open at the corner of Berkeley Square and Curzon Street, while the newly launched Rosewood Hotel, The Chancery, is already being hailed as one of Europe’s finest hotels.

Adding to this, the announcement of Tramp Health’s arrival in 2026 is expected to bring 16,000 sq ft of wellness spaces to the area. Alongside this, the Reubens brothers’ upcoming Carrington Members Club and Spa will further enhance Mayfair’s reputation as the epicenter of global luxury.

This transformation signals a bold new chapter for a legendary venue, blending its storied past with a forward-thinking vision for the future.
