Strokes and Lumineers Head Minnesota Yacht Club's 2026 Lineup

A New Era for the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival
Next year’s Minnesota Yacht Club festival is set to embrace a more contemporary sound, moving away from the 1990s-heavy lineup of its first two years. This shift marks a significant evolution in the festival's musical identity, with headliners such as The Strokes, The Lumineers, and Matchbox Twenty taking center stage. Alongside these big names, the festival will feature an eclectic mix of artists including The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, Lord Huron, Mt. Joy, All-American Rejects, Lucy Dacus, Geese, The Fray, Passion Pit, Dashboard Confessional, and local favorites Atmosphere and Semisonic.
Scheduled for July 17–19, the third annual event has quickly become one of the most anticipated music festivals in the state. Over the past two years, it has drawn large crowds with lineups that leaned heavily on '90s acts and featured more female rockers than many other modern rock fests. However, this year’s lineup reflects a different era, appealing more to millennials with its focus on 2000s-era hitmakers.
Despite this shift, organizers have still managed to include some emerging female artists and bands, such as Die Spitz, Couch, Jensen McRae, and Lucy Dacus. Dacus, known for her work with the supergroup Boygenius alongside Phoebe Bridgers, is a standout name. Another notable act is Geese, an experimental indie-rock quartet from Brooklyn whose 2025 album has been highly acclaimed by critics.
Semisonic’s inclusion is particularly meaningful, as it serves as a makeup date for their canceled appearance last year due to bassist John Munson’s stroke. Munson recently returned to the stage, performing with his other band, the New Standards, at the State Theatre.
Other Minnesota-born artists on the 2026 lineup include Yam Haus, Night Moves, Porch Light, Prize Horse, and Heart to Gold. The festival will maintain its formula of offering a 10-band, 10-hour lineup across two alternating stages over each of its three days.
Presale ticket access for the 2026 festival begins on Thursday at 10 a.m., with a code sent out after signing up for email or text alerts at MinnesotaYachtClubFestival.com. Prices are expected to be slightly higher than last year, which saw three-day general-admission passes starting at $275–$295 and single-day tickets at $150.
Minnesota Yacht Club is produced by C3 Presents, the company behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. C3 is known for its various VIP options, with prices ranging from $395 for a "GA+" three-day pass up to $2,300 for Platinum access.
Since its debut in 2024, the festival has offered a high level of production, featuring VIP areas, diverse food and drink options, and even paddleboat cruises. The 2026 lineup announcement came earlier than usual, likely due to increased competition from other outdoor events. Live Nation, now co-owning C3, will host more outdoor concerts in 2026 at its new Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee. Additionally, C3 plans a country music offshoot of the Minnesota Yacht Club, while Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon aims to revive his Eaux Claires festival in Eau Claire, Wis.
Despite the competition, the festival remains popular. Last year, the cheapest tiers of passes sold out quickly, though pricier VIP options remained available until showtime. With a capacity limited to around 35,000 attendees, C3 representatives plan to maintain this number, believing it to be the ideal size.
Attendees have praised the festival’s layout and overall experience, though some issues remain. Long concession lines were a concern in the first year, and while improvements were made, they were not fully resolved. Last year also saw complaints about a storm evacuation that cut Hozier’s set short and increased concession prices, with beers and cocktails costing $18–$20 or more after taxes.
