Ahman Green Joins 'A Cherry Pie Christmas' in Milwaukee at Central Standard

A Unique Holiday Event in Milwaukee

"A Cherry Pie Christmas," a heartwarming film set in Door County, is bringing together local celebrities and community members for a special holiday event in Milwaukee. The movie, which features familiar faces from the area, includes a notable cameo by Ahman Green, the Green Bay Packers' all-time leading rusher.

Ahman Green will be attending a screening of the film on December 21, where he will participate in a Q&A session with attendees. This event is being hosted by Central Standard, a distillery known for its Door County Cherry Vodka. According to Pat McQuillan, co-owner of Central Standard, the event aims to showcase the state's charm and spirit in a fun and casual way.

The Film and Its Storyline

The film follows Emma Parker, a talented Chicago pastry chef played by Katie Leclerc, who returns to her hometown of Door County during the holidays. She faces a difficult decision between a big city job and helping her family's struggling orchard, which is at risk of being taken over by developers. Along the way, she reconnects with an old flame, played by Ryan Carnes, adding another layer of complexity to her journey.

Green makes his appearance in the film as a "very special celebrity guest judge" for the fictional Door County Christmas Cherry Pie Contest. His involvement adds a unique touch to the movie and draws attention from fans and locals alike.

The Event Details

The screening and Q&A event will take place at Central Standard's "The Mix" venue, located on the second level of its Crafthouse & Kitchen & Craft Distillery at 320 E. Clybourn St. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m., with the film starting at 1 p.m.

McQuillan noted that the event won't conflict with the Packers' game against the Bears the day before, making it a perfect addition to the weekend activities. He also mentioned that if the Packers aren't playing, people might not know what to do, so this event helps fill that gap.

What to Expect at the Event

Attendees are asked to make a $10 donation per family for The Ahman Green Foundation. While no sign-up is required, the venue has a capacity of 150 to 200 people. Those who can't fit inside will have the option to watch the film from other areas of the Central Standard space.

After a welcome, the screening will begin. It's not a formal, seated showing, allowing guests to mingle freely. Light snacks and cherry-themed desserts will be available, along with a full bar featuring Central Standard’s Dirty Shirley, other Door County Cherry Vodka-themed beverages, and an NA Shirley Temple. A portion of proceeds from drink purchases will go to Green's foundation.

Following the film, there will be a Q&A session with Green, where topics could include his time in Green Bay and his Christmas traditions. There will also be a special opportunity to take photos with the former football star.

Additional Information

Central Standard will be open for its normal Sunday operating hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the day of the event. Attendees can come early for brunch or stay late for dinner if they choose.

While Central Standard doesn't appear in the movie, it has a connection to it. The distillery uses cherries from Door County's Seaquist Farms to make its Cherry Vodka. Seaquist Orchards Farm Market, located in Sister Bay, gets a piece of the action in the film's pie contest scene.

Local Premiere and More

Although the Great American Family flick premiered in October and was released on streaming platforms in November, it will have its local premiere at Fish Creek's Door County Auditorium on December 13. Members of the cast and crew, along with locals involved in the production, will attend the event.
