A Thrill-Seeker’s Guide to Universal Orlando

If there's one thing I'm passionate about, it's rollercoasters. I've always been drawn to the adrenaline rush and the excitement of these high-speed rides. After spending two years mostly indoors, I found myself missing the thrill of coasters more than I expected. When the chance came to visit Universal Orlando in 2023, I didn't hesitate. My goal was simple: ride every attraction. It was an ambitious plan that required two separate trips and a lot of support from fellow enthusiasts. But now, I can proudly say I'm the self-proclaimed ultimate guide to Universal Orlando.

Universal Orlando consists of several parks, including Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, the new Epic Universe, and the water park Volcano Bay. Over the course of several days, I explored all four parks and even returned for Halloween Horror Nights. I've experienced everything each park has to offer, and honestly, I can't wait to go back again. Whether it's the magic of the Isle of Berkle or the thrill of encountering a lifelike dinosaur, there's something special about this place that keeps me coming back.

Stay at Universal Orlando Hotels

One of the best parts of visiting Universal Orlando is the variety of hotels available. The Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort offers a retro 1960s vibe with Volcano Bay View rooms that are perfect for those planning to spend time at the water park. Families will appreciate the affordable suites and the hotel's amenities, including a Starbucks, a bowling alley, a lazy river, and pools with firepits for s'mores. Don't miss the burgers and shakes during your lunch break.

For budget-conscious travelers, the Endless Summer Resort - Surfside Inn and Suites & Dockside Inn and Suites are excellent choices. These newer hotels provide early park admission, free merchandise delivery, and bus service to the parks. They also have two-bedroom suites for larger groups, making them ideal for families.

The Stella Nova and Terra Luna Resort are among the newest options, especially convenient for those staying at Epic Universe. These hotels are affordable and embrace a space theme, adding to the overall experience of the new park.

Explore the Parks

Universal Studios Florida is the traditional park, offering something for everyone. From the iconic cityscapes to the Simpsons-themed zone, there's no shortage of fun. The Revenge of the Mummy coaster is a must-ride, and track 902 offers a unique experience. Other highlights include Transformers: The Ride in 3D and Men In Black Alien Attack.

Islands of Adventure is perfect for those who love immersive themes. Seuss Landing is great for families, while rollercoaster enthusiasts will enjoy the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. Riding the VelociCoaster at night and during the day offers a completely different experience. Other attractions include The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls.

Epic Universe, Universal's first park in 25 years, exceeded expectations with its five new worlds. From Stardust Races to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, there's something for everyone. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic adds a new dimension to the magical experience.

Experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World is split across Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and the Ministry of Magic. Using the Hogwarts Express, you can easily move between the areas. Pick up a wand at Olivander's and try the Earl Gray and Lavender ice cream at Florean Fortescue's. Don't forget to try Butterbeer at the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks. Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts are must-rides, and the light show at Hogwarts is a magical finale.

Relax at Volcano Bay

For a more relaxed experience, head to Volcano Bay. The Krakatau Aqua Coaster and TeAwa The Fearless River are both thrilling. Rent a cabana for a private experience, and use the TapuTapu watch to skip the lines. Enjoy drinks at the bars and don't forget to bring back your reusable cup for discounts. Koka Poroka Ice Cream Kona offers a refreshing treat to end your day.

Get Scared at Halloween Horror Nights

During the spooky season, Universal transforms into a nightmare with haunted houses, scare zones, and delicious food. The short wait times for rides make it easy to explore multiple attractions. With 10 houses in 2025, including Fallout and Five Nights at Freddy's, there's no shortage of fear.

Dine at Universal CityWalk

Open until 2 AM, Universal CityWalk offers a wide range of dining and entertainment options. Fat Tuesday and Rising Star are great for drinks and karaoke, while Voodoo Doughnuts is a must-visit for their orange creamsicle donut.

Try Bigfire and The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

For a unique dining experience, head to Bigfire. Their Bourbon Cheese Fondue and Tableside S’mores are unforgettable. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is a paradise for chocolate lovers, with every dish featuring some form of chocolate. Don't miss their milkshakes, which are as big as they are delicious.
