Angel Reese Celebrates WNBA Honor After Showcasing Offseason Getaway

Angel Reese's Remarkable Season and Off-Court Moments
Angel Reese has been making waves not only for her exceptional performance on the court but also for her unique way of celebrating her achievements off the court. The Chicago Sky forward recently caught the attention of fans and media alike after showcasing a private jet following the team’s season finale. This moment was highlighted when she posted an image of the 2025 WNBA Rebounding Leader trophy on Instagram, captioned simply with “& GOD.” Shortly after, she shared photos of herself on a boat in a blue swimsuit, captioning the post: “let me put you in some pucci & take you out the country.”
Reese’s recognition as the league’s top rebounder wasn’t a surprise. Despite trade rumors swirling around her at the end of the season, she delivered a standout second season in the WNBA. She averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Her consistent performance earned her the title of rebounding leader for the second consecutive year.
A Season of Growth and Challenges
Reese’s all-around game saw significant improvement during the season. While her scoring increased modestly, she became a more crucial playmaker for the team. In June, she recorded her first career triple-double: 11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. This achievement marked a pivotal moment in her career, showcasing her versatility and leadership on the court.
Despite her statistical success, the season ended with some setbacks. Reese was sidelined for the final two games due to a back injury, which coincided with a half-game suspension after she publicly criticized the Sky organization. The team finished with a record of 10–34, tying for the worst in the league.
Criticism and Reflections
Reese expressed her frustration with the team’s performance, stating, “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That's a non-negotiable for me … if things don't pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction.” She emphasized that she would not settle for the same results as the previous season, stressing the need for better talent.
Her comments extended to veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot, who missed much of the 2025 season due to a torn ACL. Reese suggested that the team couldn’t rely on Vandersloot’s return, noting that they needed younger players with experience and a history of competing for championships.
Vandersloot responded by pushing back against the criticism, asserting, “Contrary to what people say or think, my age is absolutely not a factor. I am coming back. I’m gonna come back better than ever because that’s what I’ve done. I’ve put myself in the position to come back and compete at this age.”
Reese later apologized to her teammates, clarifying that she didn’t mean to undermine their efforts. Meanwhile, Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca expressed confidence that Reese would remain with the franchise, stating, “until I hear differently, that’s the direction we’re going to move — that she’s on the roster.” He acknowledged the overlap between his assessment and Reese’s critique, noting that while the team brought in veterans to strengthen the locker room, many factors derailed their season.
