Renowned Disneyland Family Hotel Gets New Identity

There are several excellent hotels located near Disneyland that offer an affordable alternative for families who choose not to stay on property. These options include properties that are within walking distance or accessible via shuttle services. One of the hotels in close proximity to Disneyland recently announced a rebranding and has decided to disassociate itself from a national hotel chain.
We recently stayed at this hotel to provide an updated review, so we felt it was important to share this change with our readers. At Mickey Visit, we bring you the latest news and planning resources related to Disney, including recent updates about Bluey at the Disney Parks and upcoming events at Disneyland in 2026.
Hotel Near Disneyland Dropping National Brand

We have just learned that the Cambria Hotel & Suites, which is located near Disneyland, is rebranding to "Anaheim Suites Hotel" and will no longer be part of the Choice Hotels family. This hotel is well-known for its large recreation water park pool area and suite-style rooms.
In our recent review of the Cambria Hotel, we highlighted that it is one of the newer hotels near Disneyland, featuring spacious two-room suites with bunk beds, free breakfast, and a large pool and recreation area. The hotel consists of 352 rooms and is approximately a 20-minute walk from the front gates of Disneyland, though it feels much closer than that.
Now, let's take a closer look at what this rebranding means for the hotel. The Cambria brand is part of the Choice Hotels family, but after six years of operation, the hotel is leaving the Choice Hotels family. This development is particularly significant for guests who have used the Choice Hotels loyalty program or have reservations booked at the hotel (more details below).
Understanding the Rebranding Context

Hotels around Disneyland can generally be categorized into three groups: those affiliated with top-tier loyalty brands like Hilton HHonors or Marriott Bonvoy, independent hotels without any chain branding, or those part of smaller hotel chains. The hotels in the third category often face challenges as they must pay for the brand visibility associated with their national chain while not receiving enough demand to justify the cost.
This situation is occurring against a backdrop where the two largest hotel brands have expanded significantly, capturing more of the business traveler market. As a result, when business travelers go on vacation, they often opt to book through the hotel chain they are loyal to. It's possible that this dynamic influenced the Cambria Hotel's decision to rebrand. They were paying to be known as the Cambria but weren't benefiting from the brand's recognition as they would if they were part of a larger chain like Residence Inn or Hilton Garden Inn. On the other hand, they weren't able to define their own unique brand identity in Anaheim.
For me, the only Cambria Hotel & Suites I knew was this location near Disneyland. Therefore, this specific hotel had to work hard to establish the Cambria brand. When the hotel opened in 2019, the Cambria brand promoted it as the largest in the chain. Now, the team at "Anaheim Suites Hotel" will focus on building brand awareness and creating a positive reputation among Disneyland guests for their new name. They will now need to compete with other properties, such as "The Anaheim Hotel," to stand out.
Continued Good Neighbor Status and Travel Partner Benefits

Despite the rebranding, the hotel will continue to maintain its Good Neighbor status and still offer discounts through our travel partner, Get Away Today. You can always save on hotels and tickets by booking through our travel partner. If you have a reservation at the hotel, I recommend reaching out to the company you booked with. If you booked through Get Away Today, you are all set and do not need to contact them, as they have already handled the transition.
We expect that the Cambria Hotel, now rebranded as "Anaheim Suites Hotel," will remain a solid and affordable option for families visiting Disneyland. There are no expected changes beyond the removal of branding. We will continue to report on any significant developments regarding the hotel experience.
